BHP Citizen Advisory Council Invitation
Black Hills Power would like to announce a new event that will be held at
the Main Street Square on Saturday, February 18 from 3 pm to 5 pm. The
event is called Walk For Warmth. It will involve the Rapid City downtown
area and partners from Rapid City Downtown Association, Main Street
Square, RC Chamber of Commerce, Church Response, Salvation Army and Red
Cross. Media partners include New Rushmore Radio, Rapid City Journal, VIA
Media and KNBN.
The annual Walk For Warmth event is BHP's kick-off for our Black Hills
Cares Program which is designed to raise much needed funds to support
people in need for energy assistance such as paying for their energy bill
and weatherization measures throughout the Black Hills area. Through
Black Hills Cares, The Salvation Army and Church Response will administer
the funds. The event is a walk which involves people registering and
paying $10 per person or $20 per family. As part of BHP commitment to
supporting this event, BHP will match all donations up to $10,000.
Black Hills Cares will raise funds year around to help the growing number
of families struggling to make ends meet. For a family in need, your
tax-deductible donation to Black Hills Cares can make the difference
between facing the future in cold fear or receiving much-needed warmth
this winter. Many times these households must choose between having
enough money to pay for their food and medicine, or for the cost of
heating their homes. Without Black Hills Cares to assist families like
this through the Salvation Army and Church Response, these families are
faced with the very real possibility of having no home heating during a
time when it is needed most. The Salvation Army and Church Response has
seen a 41% increase in requests for energy assistance this year.
Walk For Warmth will include Corporate Team Sponsors. Service clubs and
non-profit organizations will also be recognized as a Corporate Team. The
Corporate Teams will be recognized at the event and include free admission
for employees at the Walk based on the dollar level of the sponsorship. I
have a couple already interested and will begin reaching out to key
companies to participate. If you are interested in learning more, please
let me know. Attached is information about the event and how to
participate. You can also go online to
Walk for Warmth.
This is a great event and will benefit people of need during the coldest
time of the year.
Please share this with your employees, customers and community leaders as
this event will benefit all home owners throughout the Black Hills region.

hope you will consider joining us for the first annual Walk for Warmth.
